Frans Widerberg: Lasting Impressions
Lithographs 1979 – 2008

Fineart, Oslo (Galleri Fineart)

An exhibition of lithographs by Frans Widerberg (1934–2017), one of Norway's most distinguished artists opens at Fineart, Oslo from 9 April – 3 May 2026.

The exhibition focuses on lithographs produced from 1979 to 2008, with a smaller selection of hand-coloured screenprints. Printmaking was among his earliest forms of artistic expression and continued to play a central role throughout Widerberg's artistic career.

His characteristic, vibrant visual language is evident through recurring motifs such as the horse and rider, the human figure, and spatial, often symbolic landscapes.

The exhibition opens in connection with two important dates in the artist's life: Frans Widerberg was born on April 8, 1934, and died on April 7, 2017.

The exhibition provides a broad and vivid insight into his printmaking production which had a profound influence on Norwegian art history but remains equally powerful and relevant today.
