 Exhibits large, landscape watercolours of northern Norway and the Oslo fjord at the Artists’ Association in Oslo.
 
 André Bjerke’s translation of Oscar Wilde’s one-act play Salomé, illustrated with twelve of Widerberg’s woodcuts, is published in a limited edition by Solum Forlag, Oslo & Kragero.  
 
 Appointed art consultant for the newly constructed Post Office Building in Oslo.
 
 Represents Norway in a group exhibition at the 7th International de la Peinture, at Cagnes-sur-mer.
 
 1976 
 
 Participates in the group exhibition Young Profiles at the Artists’ House in Oslo.
 
 Produces a lithographic poster for his forthcoming exhibition in Bergen. 
 
 1977
 
 Guest artist at the Bergen Fine Arts Society during the Bergen International Festival, from 27 May – 19 June. The accompanying catalogue includes an essay by Arnstein Arneberg. 
 
 One-man exhibition of watercolours at Gallery K in Oslo.
 
 1978 
 
 Represents Norway at the 38th Venice Biennale. The accompanying exhibition catalogue Frans Widerberg, Norvegia, La Biennale di Venezia includes an essay Art, a Synthesis of Human Experience? by Stig Andersen. The exhibition tours to Gallery F-15, Moss; Kunsten Museum of Modern Art Aalborg; Moderna Museet, Stockholm and Helsinki.
 
 The monograph Frans Widerberg by Hans-Jakob Brun is published by Tanum-Norli.
 
 1979 
 
 Works with V Rovnjev on the combined woodcut and etching technique. 
 
 Has a one-man exhibition Lithographs and Etchings at Gallery Tanum in Oslo, from 21 March – 6 April.
